JAMMU: A search operation was launched in J&K’s Kathua district on Tuesday after suspicious movement of three persons was reported.
Officials said a woman claimed to have spotted three suspected persons in the Rajbagh area of district late Monday night, after which a joint team of Army , J&K Police and Special Operations Group mounted a combing operation. Local residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police, as the forces remained engaged in the search till reports last came on Tuesday.
Though no suspects have been sighted yet, officials said “surveillance has been heightened in the area and along national highway, besides border links roads”, since Samba-Kathua districts fall on cross-border infiltration routes.”
On July 11, extensive search operations had been carried out in the Sapowal area of Samba district after members of a village defence group claimed to have seen three suspects moving towards a riverine forest area on the night of July 10.
