Unmissable mystery thriller with Oscar nominee streaming now

Thriller fans will be pleased to hear Netflix has added a chilling new series to its library and it has already entered the Top 10 chart.

The French mystery series promises a suspenseful experience, with viewers able to binge all six episodes now.

The heartfelt show follows runaway single mother Alba Mazier (played by Ava Baya) whose boss, Arnaud Lasserre (Thibault De Montalembert), is killed just hours into starting her new job.

With Alba now the main suspect, she gets caught up in a conspiracy full of "deep-rooted secrets and morally grey decisions".

The series in question is Under A Dark Sun, and the synopsis continues: "[When] her name mysteriously appears in his will, how far will she go to force the truth from his family?"

The murder case quickly escalates into a complex and dark mystery about family, based on "forced silence and decades of manipulation".

The series also features two-time Oscar nominee Isabelle Adjani as Arnaud's wife, Beatrice.

Described as being in the same vein as Harlan Coben's mystery thrillers, Decider concluded "there's a lot to like about Under A Dark Sun".

The publication added it "has just enough thrills, despite a pedestrian mystery, and fun-to-watch performances by Baya and Adjani, that the show is worth a viewer's time".

Mid-Day described it as a "chaotic, twisty dark thriller", teasing: "The first episode being so tumultuous, the expectations get higher and the plot gets nastier with everyone in sight becoming a potential killer."

They did suggest the plot was a litte too fast-paced, adding: "There's hardly any time to breathe let alone think, because the twists and turns in this murder mystery come at you at a furious pace.

"The plotting is ingenious, meant to keep the audience guessing and on their toes."

The series has plenty of five-star reviews on Google, with Robert Kinkhorst sharing: "Thoroughly enjoyable limited series, I won't go into details as you have to watch it yourself, great escapism for a few hours!"
