Noticing cloudy marks on your hob can be frustrating, especially after you've just cleaned it. Whether you have a ceramic, induction, or glass hob, those dull, streaky patches can make your kitchen look less than spotless.

Despite your best efforts, the surface can still end up looking smeared or hazy rather than shiny and clear. So what's causing these cloudy marks? Often, it comes down to cleaning products, water hardness, or residue left behind during everyday cooking. Fortunately, one cleaning enthusiast has revealed a surprising household ingredient that makes magic on metal or ceramic surfaces.

Metal stove tops can gleam once more by employing a secret weapon found in most kitchen cupboards.

TikTok sensation Clean with Georgia champions the use of olive oil, a health staple that doubles up as a natural cleanser for "cloudy stains".

In her cleaning advice, Georgia said: "You just want to take some olive oil and scrunched up paper towels. Stuff that into your stove top and it will help remove those cloudy stains.

"I have no clue what they are, but I've been trying for ages to work out how to remove them."

Olive oil doesn't just tackle grime; it gives a sheen to appliances, doubling as an eco-friendly polish. Take care to avoid harsh scrubbers when dabbing on this liquid gold.

Boasting more than culinary uses, olive oil slides through dirt, acting as an easy grime release agent. It's particularly adept at dissolving sticky label glue, creating zero-fuss clean-ups.

For lovers of natural clean fixes, Olive Oils From Spain also recommend a rust-battling combo of lemon juice and olive oil. Just massage it onto any rusty items, leave for a moment, and witness corrosion fade away.

When time's up, use a damp absorbent cloth to wipe away any excess.

Lina DaSilva, a cleaning expert and the owner of Toronto Shine Cleaning, shared with Homes & Gardens: "Olive oil is great for removing smudges and fingerprints from stainless steel appliances without the need for harsh chemicals."

She advises: "Simply apply a small amount of olive oil to a soft cloth and rub it over the stainless steel surface, following the grain. Avoid using too much oil to prevent a greasy residue."
