Princess Elisabeth can officially return to Harvard this autumn for the second year of her master's degree, it has been revealed. This important update comes after US President Donald Trump previously decided to suspend the entry of foreign students into the US who are set to study or participate in exchange programmes at Harvard University.

Trump previously said that his reasons for this were "national security" concerns, and said earlier this year that allowing foreign students to be at Harvard was "detrimental" to US interests. The prestigious Massachusetts university has now pushed back with a lawsuit, meaning the rule was blocked temporarily. Belgian royal journalist Wim Dehandschutter told HELLO! that on Tuesday, he received confirmation that the eldest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium can return to the university.

He told HELLO!: "The palace told me, 'All indicators are currently green for her. There are no concrete reasons why she would not be able to return to Harvard in September."

Wim also added: "According to new information from my sources close to the royal family, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, and Princess Elisabeth have always believed in the positive outcome [despite the uncertainty].

"Which means they believed that Elisabeth could return to Harvard.

"Or - worst-case scenario - that the university could offer distance/online classes or find a different campus in another country."

It was previously reported that it was likely she could get preferential treatment as a result of her royal status, but that this was not what Elisabeth, 23, wanted.

As reported by HELLO!, Wim previously said: "The Crown Princess finds it important to show solidarity with the other foreign students. She started her studies with them, made many (international) friends, and is in the running club of her university with some of her fellow students.

"Elisabeth also realises how sensitive it is to profit from her status as future queen. It would send the wrong signal to all 'ordinary' students..."
