Roast potatoes are 'mouth-watering' when cooked with 2 unusual ingredients

Roast potatoes taste amazing when you make them using two ingredients that you may have never guessed. Roast potatoes are a classic part of many British meals, such as a . However, they are enjoyed in a number of other ways, even with foods from around the world. They can be made very simply or can be made very exciting with just a few seasonings, sauces and other ingredients.

One home cook and professional food blogger, Alissa, also known as Connoisseurus Veg, shared her delicious recipe. "Meet your new favorite side dish," she says as she introduces a roast potato recipe that is likely new for many British households. In her recipe, which she describes as "mouth-watering", she uses two key ingredients to make her tasty roast potatoes, lime and chipotle.

"These potatoes are my new show-stopper," she says, describing how the chipotle, lime and a bit of corriander (which she calls cilantro as an American cook), creates the best roasted potatoes that are crispy and full of flavour.

To make her roast potatoes, she uses 1.5 to 2 pounds of small potatoes, 1 tbsp and 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, 1 chipotle pepper from a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (which can be swapped for chipotle paste, more readily available in the UK), 2 teaspoons adobo sauce, 1 garlic clove minced, 1 tablespoon lime zest, 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice and 2 tablespoons fresh chopped cilantro.

To start, she preheats the oven to around 200C and once that gets hot enough, she places in the chopped potatoes that have been coated in olive oil and salt. Then, she minces the chipotle pepper and adds the adobo sauce to the bowl with garlic. She also adds the lime zest, lime juice, and the remaining 2 teaspoons of olive oil.

Simply whisk all of that together until it is combined. Then, add the potatoes to the dressing when they are finished cooking in the oven.

"Add cilantro and gently stir to combine, making sure every potato is covered. Plate and serve," she explains.

Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce may not be easy to find, but many UK supermarkets sell chipotle paste for cooking. This is an easy swap.
