won't be joining Liverpool this summer after reportedly ruling out a move to another club. The midfielder at the Etihad on Tuesday night, after playing his last home game before leaving the club in the summer.
The Belgian midfielder has spent 10 years at City after joining from Wolfsburg in 2015. It was , with De Bruyne admitting his surprise at the decision. The announcement duly sparked speculation of a sensational move to newly crowned league champions Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah then , saying: "I want to tell him congratulations on your career. He's done a phenomenal job at City, and he was great for the league. I really wish him the best and we have a space for him."
However, according to the Telegraph, the 33-year-old has ruled out staying in England. He's said to have decided to move abroad, and has already held talks with Serie A side Napoli.
He's also been linked with a move to the MLS with the Chicago Fire. De Bruyne has also attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, but in his farewell speech after the 3-1 win over , he declined to speak about his next move.
Instead, he focused on his decade-long stint at City, which yielded 14 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the 2023 . He said: "I wanted to play with creativity, I wanted to play with passion. I wanted to enjoy football, and I hope everyone enjoyed it.
"Everybody has pushed me so hard inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself and these guys in front of me have made me better than I was before. It's an honour to play with these guys. I've made so many friends for life."
If De Bruyne does head to Napoli, there is the prospect of an intriguing midfield partnership with former Manchester derby rival Scott McTominay. He could also be joining the Serie A champions, with Antonio Conte's men to take the title if they take three points against Cagliari on Friday.
