Donald Trump claims 'I never tell a lie' and has humiliating example to prove it

U.S. President Donald Trump joined the booth of Sunday's Detroit Lions-Washington Commanders game in DC after announcing his presence via a dramatic flyover.

Trump was booed heavily by the Commanders' faithful when he arrived almost 80 minutes after kickoff. He slipped into the FOX Sports booth alongside play-by-play man Kenny Albert and color commentator Jonathan Vilma in the third quarter.

Trump was asked a slew of softball questions - he was never asked about whether the new Washington stadium should be named in his honor, as he indicated this week. FOX flashed a picture of Trump in a team football photo while at the New York Military Academy.

"So we were trying to look up your stats. How many touchdowns did you have back then? Six? Seven?" Vilma asked. Trump provided an embarrassing reply. "I'm not sure I had any," he answered. "It was a long time ago.... At least you realize that I never tell a lie, right?"

It's unclear from his tone if the comment was tongue-in-cheek. Hardly the only instance, NBC fact checkers clocked at least 12 lies during Trump's joint address to Congress in March.

In the eight-minute booth appearance, Trump bashed Biden, spoke about how he views America to be doing, and even called a play.

The President also shared why he loves sports. "It's a microcosm of life," Trump admitted."It's sort of like life: the good, the bad, the ugly."

"You have the triumph. You have the problems. You've got to get through the problems to hit the triumphs. You can never quit. You can never give up."

Trump became the first sitting President since 1978 to attend an NFL game, and he saw an eyesore. The Lions, looking for revenge after their stunning loss to the Commanders in last year's NFC playoffs, won 44-22.

Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown caught one of quarterback Jared Goff's three touchdown passes in the first quarter. He celebrated by pointing up to where he assumed Trump was sitting (he wasn't yet in attendance) and hit the President's signature dance.

The Lions improved to 6-3 and are circling in on the Green Bay Packers atop the NFC North.
