Netflix subscribers have shared their love for a 'quirky and interesting' period drama that ticks all the boxes.
Created by Moira Buffini and Alison Newman, Harlots follows brothel owner Margaret Wells who struggles to raise her daughters in London during the 18th century.
Hulu original series, now on Netflix, stars Lesley Manville, Kate Fleetwood, and Holli Dempsey - and spans over three series.
Its storyline on IMDb reads: "Margaret Wells struggles to reconcile her roles as brothel owner and mother to her daughters.
"When her business comes under attack from a rival madam with a ruthless streak, Margaret must fight back even if it means losing her family and possibly her life."
In a review, TikTok user Claire, who is known as @claire.stathamholmes on social media, shared word about the series, saying: "It's full of sass, it's full of fun. It's got some quirky and interesting characters in it.
"So far, I am loving it. I've been waiting for this and it has not disappointed, give it a watch."
In response to her video, other users jumped into the comments to share their love for the series, with one saying: "Watches three seasons in 48 hours, it's amazing. I love all the costumes."
Another user added: "I watched it when it first came out. I'm watching it again not. I forgot how good it is."
A third user said: "I watched it a few years ago and loved it and I have started it again and more in love with the series."
One more user added: "About to start season three. Started it last night, a very good show."
The series has been awarded 7.7 stars out of 10 on IMDb, with viewers saying: "Indulge yourself and watch this series!
"The rating doesn't do it any justice! I found that I became further enthralled as the show progressed. Brilliant acting, with a fabulous cast. A very well written series indeed."
Another said: "I just wanted to say that this programme is so much better than I thought it would be.
"I actually care about the characters. I don't usually like full on sex scenes, but because of the subject matter it doesn't seem gratuitous.
"It's actually a very fascinating insight into 18th Century England, and seems that it was a very complicated lifestyle to live in a brothel as well as dangerous. I'm enjoying it. Give it a go."
A final user said: "I don't like shows full of fake pretty Hollywood actors. This series has beautiful women and men, maybe not in the fake Hollywood standards, which gives it so much more realness.
"The characters are complex in their different personalities without going overboard in their acting.
"Though the show is about prostitutes, there isn't an over-abundance of sex. It shows that sex is not the only thing that defines these women.
"The story line is captivating, with intrigue and gossip, but it's not frivolous and hits on serious topics like race, sexuality, religion and motherhood. I hope they continue this series."
