Sawan 2025 Shivling Puja: The most important part of the worship of Lord Shiva is the Shivling Puja, which is a symbol of the representation of Shiva. Some important rules of Shivling Puja for women have been mentioned in the scriptures.
Sawan has begun and this month the importance of worshipping Lord Shiva increases. Especially in Hinduism, Shivling worship has special importance. As soon as the month of Sawan begins, Shiva devotees perform Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek etc. on the Shivling. Even during the Kanwar Yatra, Kanwariyas fill the Kanwar with holy Ganga water and reach Shivdham or Shivalaya to perform Abhishek on the Shivling.
But in the scriptures, some important rules have been mentioned for worshiping the Shivling form of Lord Shiva, which everyone should follow. Especially some rules have been mentioned separately for women. Therefore, while worshiping Shivling, women must know about these rituals and rules.
Importance of Shivling worship
Shiva is the only god who is worshipped in the form of Linga. Shiva means ' ultimate benefactor' and Linga means 'creation' . According to Vedas and Vedanta, the word Linga is used for the subtle body, which is made up of 17 elements. It has mind, intellect, five sense organs, five organs of action and five airs. According to Vayu Purana, the one in which the entire creation gets absorbed during the time of destruction and from which it again appears during the time of creation is Linga. In this way, the entire energy of the world is the symbol of Linga.
What is the Nandi Mudra in which women should worship Shivling
In the scriptures, Shivling is considered to be a representation of masculinity. Therefore, it is said that women should worship Shivling without touching it. But if you want to seek the blessings of Shivling or touch Shivling with devotion, then touch Shivling in Nandi Mudra only.
Nandi Mudra is a posture in which one sits like Nandi. In this, the first and last fingers are kept straight and the middle two fingers are joined with the thumb. It is believed that by worshipping in this posture, Lord Shiva is pleased and fulfills every wish.
