This year’s Rama Ekadashi holds special significance as a rare celestial event will take place. Falling in the holy month of Kartik, Rama Ekadashi is regarded as highly auspicious both spiritually and astrologically. Usually dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu, this time it coincides with the Sun’s transition into a new zodiac sign, making it a powerful occasion for devotees.
According to the Vedic Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in Kartik month will occur on October 17, 2025. On this same day, the Sun — the king among planets — will move into the zodiac sign of Scorpio (Vrishchik Rashi) at 1:53 p.m. Mars, the ruler of Scorpio, shares a friendly planetary relation with the Sun, increasing the auspicious influence of this transit.
Significance of the Rare CoincidenceThe alignment of the Sun’s transit (Surya Gochar) with Rama Ekadashi is considered extremely rare and prosperous. The Sun’s positive sight (drishti) on this day benefits several zodiac signs. Devotees are advised to wake up early, take a holy bath, and offer arghya (water) to Surya Dev while chanting the Aditya Hridaya Stotra. It is also auspicious to donate items related to the Sun and Mars — such as red clothes, wheat, copper utensils, and jaggery.
Observing the Rama Ekadashi FastRama Ekadashi, observed on the Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, is one of the most spiritually purifying fasts dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Fasting on this day is believed to free devotees from past sins, remove sorrow, and bring peace and prosperity.
Puja Vidhi (Worship Method)On the morning of Rama Ekadashi, take a fasting vow and purify your home temple. Spread a yellow cloth on a wooden stool in the northeast corner of your house and place idols or pictures of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi upon it. Sprinkle holy water over the place of worship. Apply roli or sandalwood tilak to the deities and offer yellow flowers, fruits, and sweets. Tulsi leaves must be included in the offering, as they are considered essential for Vishnu worship.
Listen to or recite the story of Rama Ekadashi and chant the mantras of Lord Hari and Goddess Lakshmi with devotion. Perform the evening aarti with a ghee lamp. The fast should be broken (parana) the next day, on the twelfth day (Dwadashi), during the auspicious time after sunrise.
On this rare and sacred day, performing both Vishnu and Surya puja with sincerity is said to bless devotees with radiant health, spiritual clarity, and lasting prosperity.
