TVS Motor Company has finally introduced its much-awaited electric scooter, the Orbiter, at a starting price of Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom, Bangalore). Positioned as the brand’s most affordable EV, the Orbiter borrows some design elements from the iQube while adding fresh styling cues of its own. With modern features, practical design, and an impressive range, TVS is aiming to make the Orbiter a strong competitor against Ola and Ather in the growing EV scooter market.
The Orbiter sports a funky yet contemporary design, available in multiple color options to suit younger buyers. It comes with a long 845 mm seat and a wide 290 mm floorboard, ensuring rider comfort. Its straight riding stance makes city commutes easier, while a mix of 14-inch front alloy wheels and 12-inch rear wheels with an integrated electric motor enhance its stability and performance.
Practicality is another key highlight, as the Orbiter offers 34 liters of under-seat storage and 169 mm of ground clearance. Powering the scooter is a 3.1 kWh battery pack that delivers a certified range of up to 158 km on a single charge under IDC conditions. Riders can switch between two modes, Eco and Power, and also benefit from regenerative braking. However, TVS has yet to reveal the detailed specifications of its motor and charging time.
On the features front, the Orbiter stands out with LED lighting, a USB charging port, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also supports OTA updates. Safety and convenience are boosted with advanced features like hill hold assist, cruise control, parking assist, and an automatic motor cut-off in case of a fall.
Buyers can choose from six striking color options: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper. With its aggressive pricing, long range, and feature-packed design, the TVS Orbiter is set to give tough competition to rivals Ola S1 and Ather 450X in the Indian EV market.
