A woman has managed to effectively transform her outdoor area after being dismissed by critics who claimed it was "too small" to be considered a proper garden and was simply a yard not worthy of improvement. Getting the most out of any outdoor space and converting it into a spot worth savouring is an aspiration for countless homeowners fortunate enough to possess their own plot.
Despite Britain's famously fickle summers, al fresco dining, catching rays, unwinding on garden furniture, entertaining pets, playing with children, and countless other activities remain seasonal highlights - best savoured in one's own garden. But not every home boasts sprawling grounds.
Imogen Stead was determined to maximise her outdoor area's potential, aiming to create a tranquil and chic retreat for leisure and relaxation.

The property owner describes herself as a "DIY renovator", passionate about enhancing her home's interior and exterior.
Her rear garden initially presented as a tired space dominated by AstroTurf - a frequently maligned material.
In a clip shared to social media, Imogen documented her makeover journey, beginning with stripping away the artificial lawn, demolishing a deteriorating shed, and refreshing the brickwork.
Over the top of the footage, she included the words: "Them: that garden is too small, you'll never make it better."
This message then switched to: "Me: watch me!"
Imogen revamped her garden with timber decking, a pergola, potted plants, new seating, and many other additional features.
The final outcome is an immaculate, peaceful and sophisticated garden space.
In the caption of her video, she added: "So apparently I'm not allowed to call it a garden because it's too small, it must be a yard but anyway, with a lot of hard work and a bit of vision, you can turn a small yard/garden into a place you're proud of (and it looks even better now the plants are really beginning to grow too)."
In the comments, people were eager to weigh in, with many focusing on what Imogen's garden was allowed to be called.
One person said: "Technically (by UK definitions) it's a yard because it's paved and walled, whereas a garden has a lawn or planted flower beds.
"That said, the amount of pots, plants, etc, in this yard probably qualifies it as a 'yarden'!"
Another said: "A yard is a paved or concreted area behind a building, so you had a yard, but you have made it into a beautiful courtyard garden. Well done, enjoy it whatever you want to call it!"
A third shared their view: "Looks great, I always think plants actually in the ground makes something qualify as a garden but it's yours, it's lovely, call it what the hell you want."
Another commented: "It's a yarden. That's what I call mine."
Someone else said: "Looks beautiful. We've only got a small garden (yard lol) and we have did ours similar with blues!
"Who wants a big garden haha spend all the time keeping it in order and not enough time to chill."
Another added: "Looks amazing."
And another concluded: "It's a beautiful small garden, well done."
