Take a Composer to call the tune in the Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap. DREAM COMPOSER (3.45) has a decent record at Goodwood.
He’s only been out of the frame once in seven starts over today’s course and distance, with one of those efforts resulting in victory. That win came more than two years ago but he was successful twice last summer, including defeat of subsequent Group 1 scorer American Affair at Pontefract. It’s probably unwise to take that form too literally but it does show the sort level he is capable of operating at on his day.

He had excuses for his below-par runs earlier in the season and his second to progressive three-year-old Dan Tucker at Pontefract last month was a big step in the right direction.
The likely strong pace at a course he clearly likes should play to his strengths. Have 2pts each-way at 20-1. A few bookies are paying out on six places.
Mark Johnston used to dominate the handicaps at this meeting and his son Charlie has a decent chance in the Ridgeway Fillies’ Handicap.
His BLESSED STAR (4.55) returns to handicaps after finishing runner-up in four novice starts. Her second behind smart prospect Wujjood at Pontefract last month was a solid comeback run and that effort should help put the edge on her for today’s race.
This race has been dominated by three-year-olds in recent years and this lightly-weighted filly could well continue that trend. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Most firms are offering four places.
There looks sure to be a strong pace in the final race on day one and that will suit LADY OF ANDROS (5.30). She was unlucky not to beat Easy Peeler in a decent fillies’ handicap at York last month when the race set up for her hold up style of racing.
Her third at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago was further proof that she is nicely handicapped and she should take advantage with the prospect of this race dropping perfectly for her. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1. Sky Bet is going five places.
ALYANAABI (2.30) is worth chancing in the Group 2 HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes. He’s got the ability to land a race like this and he will appreciate the return to 7f after struggling to make an impact over 6f at Newcastle last month. Have 1pt each-way at 25-1. A few firms are offering four places.
