Justin Rose has delivered a resounding 'yes' when asked about potentially skippering Team Europe at the Ryder Cup. However, he remains desperate to compete as a player.
Rose played his part in the thrilling 15 to 13 triumph for the Europeans over America at the weekend as Europe clinched consecutive Ryder Cups and their first victory on U.S. soil since 2012. The Englishman was part of the squad that prevailed at Medinah 13 years ago, and over a decade on, he is still delivering the goods against the Americans.
However, Rose is the subject of rumours regarding a different position at the next Ryder Cup in 2027. With Luke Donald having steered the team for the past two tournaments, there is speculation he will pass on the captaincy when Team Europe chase a hat-trick at Adare Manor in Ireland.

So would Rose be prepared to accept the responsibility? "Luke has been absolutely phenomenal," he told talkSPORT.
"He's really given his heart and soul to this thing for four years now. He's left a seriously strong blueprint and has actually made it very daunting for the next guy.
"The European legends of the game have always said, play, play, play, play as long as you can, because they're the best days of your life. There's time for vice captains, there's time for captaincy.
"And when it's the right time, if I'm ever asked, oh my God, yes please. But I love being in battle.
"It fires me up. It takes me to a place I didn't know I could go. And I think after being a pro for 28 years, I've had to go places this week where I've never been before.

"It's tested my resolve. I feel like I've never played in an environment like this before.
"So to feel like I'm learning as a player at 45 is incredible. And I think that I need to protect that as long as I can."
Regarding his captaincy plans, Donald stated during Sunday's celebrations: "I don't think my heart can take two more years... We'll see. My answer is I'm going to enjoy tonight."
Jon Rahm believes the whole team are keen for Donald to continue. "Luke has set the bar for captaincy so extremely high," the Spaniard said.
"What he's done these four years of being a part of, is absolutely astonishing. He has been so professional, so dedicated, so incredibly meticulous, and well organised and doing everything that he needs to do, and that's why you've seen the two performances you've seen from us.
"He's the leader of the ship and he's definitely led us the right way. The only thing left to say from I think all of us is two more years."
