Jane Goodall: World's 'top expert on chimpanzees' dies at 91

Tributes have been paid to legendary chimp expert Jane Goodall, who has died aged 91.

Widely considered the world's leading expert on chimpanzees, the UN Messenger of Peace and Founder dedicated her life to the animals with her ground-breaking studies. The primatologist passed away while on tour in California.

A post on her Facebook page said: "The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States.
