fans finally got the answers they've been waiting for in tonight’s explosive special episode, as the dark past between Kit Green and Mick Michaelis was exposed.
Viewers have been speculating over the shared past between the corrupt detective and the sinister newcomer ever since Mick turned up on the cobbles. Now, it's clear why just the sight of Mick (Joe Layton) was enough to rattle Kit (Jacob Roberts).
The shady character is hiding a life-changing secret that could destroy everything Kit has worked for. A dramatic flashback to 2007 revealed that Kit and Mick were actually thick as thieves when they were teenagers.

But what started as typical teen mischief quickly spiralled out of control when Kit decided to get revenge on a shopkeeper who had made cruel remarks about his birth mother, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove). With Mick’s help, Kit pushed lit fireworks through the shop’s letterbox, unaware that someone was still there.
They panicked when they heard the shopkeeper's wife screaming from inside the building, and Kit ran away, saving himself but leaving Mick to take the fall for his crime. Police arrested Mick on the spot, and he ended up serving a custodial sentence even though the whole fiasco was not his idea.
It's a secret that has haunted Kit ever since, especially as he would not have been allowed into the police force if the truth had come out. Mick has clearly been holding this over him, knowing he holds the power to ruin Kit’s career.
Then, in a shock twist, viewers learned that while Mick was behind bars, his wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty) had an affair with Kit. Things took an even more dramatic turn when Kit walked into Speed Daal and saw Lou, Mick and their teenage son Brody (Ryan Mulvey) celebrating his release from the STC.
After overhearing that Brody was 16, he froze and appeared to be doing the maths to see if Brody might be his son. The horrified expression on Lou’s face as she clocked Kit’s arrival said it all.
If Kit’s suspicions are right, this betrayal could be the final straw for Mick, who has already proven himself to be dangerous when pushed too far. Mick has already served time for a crime he didn’t commit and is only just starting to rebuild his life.
If he finds out Brody isn’t his biological son, and that his former best mate is the real father, Kit might have more to worry about than losing his job. Joe Layton previously spoke about the moment when Mick might realise Lou didn't have Brody with him, saying: "He’s totally blindsided by it.
"I think there could well have been transgressions from both Lou and Mick over the years but for one, Brody not to be his biological son and two, the father to be Kit is completely unique. He had no idea, I don’t think. That’s how I played it anyway."
airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and X.
