Investment activity across India’s startup ecosystem gained further steam this week, buoyed by marquee deals. Between August 11 and 16, startups mopped up $272.1 Mn across 18 deals, up 38% from the $197.4 Mn garnered by 25 startups last week, even as deal count slipped 28%.

Key Startup Funding Highlights Of The Week

• Riding on Truemeds’ mega funding round, healthtech emerged as the most funded sector this week, drawing $65 Mn.
• Trailing healthtech, enterprise tech and consumer services saw two startups apiece bagging $61 Mn and $56.7 Mn, respectively, during the week.
• The AI sector dominated dealmaking this week, with Graas.ai, Refold AI and Spike AI raising fresh funding rounds.
• Peak XV hogged the limelight as the most active investor backing startups like Truemeds, Arintra, Dashverse and Graas.ai this week.
• Seed funding zoomed 27% to $12.4 Mn across four deals.

Startup Fund Updates Of The Week

• Deeptech-focused VC firm Speciale Invest announced the close of its third fund at INR 600 Cr. With the investment vehicle, the VC aims to back 18-20 pre-seed and seed stage startups over the next four years with an average ticket size of INR 7 Cr to INR 10 Cr.
• VC firm Atomic Capital has announced thefinal close of its maiden fund at INR 400 Cr. It aims to back 10-12 Pre-Series A and Series A startups operating in the consumer tech and consumer-enabler segments with an average cheque size of INR 10-30 Cr.

Startup IPO Updates Of The Week

• SaaS unicorn Fractal filed its DRHP with the markets regulator SEBI for an INR 4,900 Cr IPO. The company’s public issue will comprise a fresh of shares worth up to INR 1,279.3 Cr and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of up to INR 3,620.7 Cr.
• BlueStone’s public offering closed with an oversubscription of 2.7X, with investors bidding for 4.46 Cr shares as against 1.65 Cr shares on offer. With this, the jewellery brand is expected to list on the bourses on August 19.

 

Startup M&As This Week

• B2B visa platform StampMyVisa bought travel tech startup Teleport this week. Founded in 2022, Teleport is a travel technology startup that provides a platform for users to book travel experiences and accommodations. It is backed by investors like CRED’s Kunal Shah, Meesho’s Vidit Aatrey and RedBus’ Phanindra Sama.
• IPO-bound Zetwerk bought a controlling stake in KRYFS Power Components, a manufacturer of transformer core lamination having a capacity of over 50,000 MT per year.

Other Developments Of The Week

• Aditya Birla’s rollup brand TMRW islooking to raise INR 437 Cr (about $50 Mn) in its maiden external funding round from software giant ServiceNow’s VC arm, ServiceNow Ventures.
• Enterprise tech startup Presolv360 is targeting$4.7 Mn funding from Elevation Capital, multiple people aware of the matter told Inc42. Besides existing investors, MGA Ventures, along with a host of angel investors, is also expected to partake in the round.
