Rajasthan Rains: Mini Truck Swept Away In Parvati River After Water Level Rises Amid Heavy Showers In Dholpur; Video

Dholpur: Heavy rains lashed Rajasthan in the past 24 hours, throwing normal life out of gear. Amid incessant showers, a mini-truck was swept away in Rajasthan's Dholpur on Friday morning. The vehicle sank into the Parvati River on the Ranoli culvert under the jurisdiction of Maniyan police station. The driver and cleaner also drowned with the mini truck.

However, a labourer and a contractor were saved by the locals. Authorities reached the spot after receiving the information. A rescue operation has been launched to search for the bodies of the driver and cleaner. A video of the mini-truck being swept away also surfaced online.

Meanwhile, in Jasnagar of Nagaur district, National Highway-458 was closed for the third time in the last 12 days as the water of the Luni river is flowing 6 inches above the Jasnagar culvert, reported IANS. After the closure of the highway, the connectivity of Nagaur was hampered with Pali and Beawar districts.

For the unversed, this year in July, Rajasthan recorded the highest rainfall in 69 years. The state recorded a total of 285MM rainfall last month. Meanwhile, the highest rainfall of 308MM was recorded in July 1956.

The Meteorological Department of Jaipur issued a 'Yellow Alert' for moderate to heavy rain in 6 districts on Friday. Amid the heavy rainfall warning, schools also remained closed in 16 districts on Friday.

A holiday was announced in schools in Jhalawar, Tonk, Kota, Bharatpur, Deeg, Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Nagaur, Sikar, Churu and others, reported the news agency. The Meteorological Centre has also predicted more than normal rainfall in August (Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner).
