Maharashtra News: MSRDA Warns Of Statewide Protest Over Stipend Delays, Pay Gaps

The Maharashtra Senior Resident Doctors Association (MSRDA) has voiced its anger over delayed stipend payments, with some institutions like Grant Medical College, Ambernath, and Chandrapur medical colleges yet to pay since May 2025. Many others are facing routine delays of 2–3 months, adding financial and mental strain.

Alarming Pay Gap Between DMER and BMC Hospitals
MSRDA flagged the wide disparity in pay between doctors at BMC-run hospitals and those in DMER institutions. While the state approved a monthly stipend of Rs 95,000 in 2023, senior residents at BMC peripheral hospitals still receive only Rs 62,000 to Rs 66,000.

No Leave Policy Adds to Stress
Apart from financial concerns, MSRDA raised the issue of the absence of a formal leave policy for senior resident doctors in the state, calling it unfair and demoralizing for already overburdened professionals.

Demand for Better Facilities and Allowances
The association has also called for improved hostel conditions and appropriate living allowances, especially for doctors posted in metro areas like Mumbai where living expenses are high.

Protest Threat Looms if Demands Are Ignored
MSRDA warned that it will launch a statewide protest if the government and DMER fail to take urgent action on their long-standing demands.
