Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The spell of extremely heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh has slowed down, but the situation remains serious in many areas.
An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 12 districts on Thursday. In Shivpuri, all schools will remain closed due to the weather conditions.

Districts under Heavy Rain Alert: Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Morena, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, and Mandla.
These areas may receive up to 4.5 inches of rainfall in the next 24 hours.
What do meteorologists say?
Senior meteorologists said that on Wednesday, a cyclonic circulation and trough activity were observed in the central region of the state, which led to rainfall. However, the system is expected to weaken soon, and the spell of heavy rain will come to an end.
Overview of other districts
Heavy rainfall has been continuing in Shivpuri for the past three days. The Sakhya Sagar Lake in Madhav Tiger Reserve has overflowed due to the rain.
On Wednesday, rescue operations were carried out in districts like Guna, Shivpuri, Sheopur, and Morena, where hundreds of people were evacuated. Several roads were blocked, and rivers like the Narmada continued to overflow.

Light Rain Alert: A yellow alert for thunderstorms and light rain has been issued for other districts in the state.

Rain records
Eight districts including Gwalior, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Morena, Sheopur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari - have received more rainfall than normal, with some areas getting up to 37% excess rain.
Tikamgarh and Niwari have recorded the highest rainfall at 42 inches so far, while Indore has received less than 10 inches. The situation in Ujjain is also not good. Bhopal and Jabalpur have received only half of their average seasonal rainfall.
Although the intense rain stopped on Wednesday, Jabalpur still recorded the highest rainfall at 1 inch. Light rain continued in over 25 districts including Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Indore, Pachmarhi, Raisen, Sheopur, Ujjain, Damoh, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Seoni, Umaria, Balaghat, and Shivpuri.
