The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam is about to come. Due to this, it has approved the payment of salary and pension ahead of time for its employees and pensioners. That is, they will be given a salary and pension in advance.
By when will the payment be made?
According to the office memorandum of the Ministry of Finance issued on August 21 and 22, 2025, the employees of the Central Government including Defense, Post and Telecom in Maharashtra will get the salary for August on August 26, 2025 (Tuesday). That is, their wages will be credited to their bank account before Ganesh Chaturthi on August 27. Similarly, Onam festival will be celebrated in Kerala from 4-5 September 2025, so their salary and pension will also be paid on 25 August 2025 (Monday).

The purpose of this decision of the government is to keep in mind that the employees do not face any financial problems during the festive season and they can celebrate the festival well with their families. The Finance Ministry has said that these payments will be considered as advance payments. The salary, pension and wages issued will be adjusted in the final settlement of August/September 2025. The circular said, "The salary/wages/pension thus distributed shall be treated as advance payment and shall be subject to adjustment after determination of the salary/wages/pension of each employee/pensioner for the full month."
Finance Ministry's instruction to RBI
The ministry has also requested the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to direct the branches of banks in Kerala and Maharashtra to implement the program of paying salaries and pensions in advance without any delay. Central government industrial employees in Kerala will also come under the purview of prompt payment instructions.
