A big decision has been taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Now, APAAR ID will be necessary in the 2026 exam. Let's know the details...
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to make many big changes from the board examinations of 2026, which will change both the way of studying and exam preparation of the students in the coming time. Now, APAAR ID will be necessary for every student.
CBSE has made it clear that every student appearing in the board examinations of 2026 should have an APAAR ID. This is a unique digital ID in which all the academic records of the student, like mark sheets, certificates, and other documents, will be saved. This ID will be valid for life, and this will eliminate the problem of fraud or duplicate records.
Now, schools will have to make an APAAR ID for all the students from class 9th to 12th so that all the formalities can be completed before the examination. If you are in class 9th or above, then get your ID made as soon as possible.
Increase in examination and registration fees
CBSE has increased the fees by about 6.66% from the 2025-26 session. The board says that there was no change in the fees since 2020, but in the meantime the expenditure on conducting the examination, staff and other arrangements has increased manifold.
In India, the fee for one subject for class 10 and 12 will be Rs 320, for five subjects it will be Rs 1600. Practical fee for class 12 will be Rs 160 and registration fee for class 9 and 11 will be Rs 320. In Nepal, the fee for one subject will be Rs 1100, Rs 5500 for five subjects, Rs 175 for practical and registration fee will be Rs 550 or 660.
While in other countries, the fee for one subject will be Rs 2200, Rs 11,000 for five subjects, Rs 375 for practical and registration fee will be Rs 550 or 660. Earlier the board also used to get income from migration certificate, but now it is not necessary, so the fee has become the main source of income.
Impact of changes on students
After these changes, students will have both new opportunities and challenges. Your educational record will always be saved with APAAR ID. The fee hike means that families will have to plan the exam budget in advance. The AI Center will open a new door to technical education, especially for those who want to learn new things.
